Where is my main volume bar?!

For some reason, every time I drag and drop (or import) a clip into the timeline, my track 1 of 4 audio tracks is missing. The other 3 out of 4 tracks are there. I went in the timeline options in my prefs and it looks fine, it reads "4 audio tracks," etc.

Anyone know why it won't let me import that main (and most important) audio section?

PS I am on a g5, a dual 1.8, 10.4.11, 2.5 gb ram. fcp 6.0... thank you.

First thing to check is your Source/Destination buttons: The silver buttons that are attached to your V1, A1 audio tracks on the left side of the Timeline. I'm guessing your A1 is detached while A2-4 are connected.

The silver buttons on the left of the timeline works like a patch bay. If a button is not linked, the audio/video track from the clip doesn't go into the timeline.
