Hello Everyone,

Sorry to cross post, but this question hasn't really gone anywhere after a week in the DVD forum...

I have heard mixed reviews about DVDSP's ability to create a DVD from 23.98 material. Is DVDSP able to insert flags to tell the DVD player to do the on the fly pulldown (as Bitvice can)? Do I have to framerate convert to 29.97 first?

Thanks for the help,
Adam

Yes it is, and no you don't. In fact, you should never add pulldown to 23.976 material before going to DVD; it just wastes bits.

That's how we do it.

An odd advantage is computer playback of your DVD. A stand-alone DVD player will play anything onto a television screen and it will look grand, but a computer playback is much more likely to break up into interlace artifacts if the DVD was authored in interlaced 29.97.
