Browser Right+Click Pull-Down Menus !!Posted by bjmoore
I have a question about the Browser window and tools in Final Cut.
Let's say you are entering custom descriptions in a column of the browser, for each of your clips in a project. You know how you can right-click in the browser and get an ever-growing pulldown list that lets you re-select a previous entry you made in that column? I'm wondering if it is possible to sort that pop-up pulldown list? Or edit that list somehow. I know it is pulling from every description I've ever entered for that project, which is useful. But I have hundreds of clips in the project. It doesn't seem to alphabetize it and that would be great. If anyone knows anything about this - I could really use the input.
i am not a genius about this but i would say no. However i can recommend that you might wanna break the project up into parts.
If you know which clips you will use for say chpt1, chpt2....ect """ What you do with what you have, is more important than what you could do, with what you don't have." > > > Knowledge + Action = Wisdom - J. Corbett 1992 """"
Saw your post on the Cow. You can't change the order of the items in the menus of the Browser. A shame and can be frustrating.

alphabetising the browser notes (or whatever you'd call them) would be a great idea,
along with alphabetising the hidden columns. and surely not TOO hard to implement? whatever happened to Arry Jordan's "Interface Feature requst" poll from a while back? maybe time for another one. here's one small tip that MAY help you probably not, but it's handy when changing reel #s. as you know you can right click on a clips reel# in the browser and chenge it. you can alsoi conform a seelction of clips to an existing reel#. when you do this, the reel# actual clip you click on will be at the TOP of the list. so if you are swapping a bunch of clips to an exisitng reel#, always include a clip with that # in your selection, and right click on it. the number you want will be at the top. nick

You can change the order of the columns. Click and drag them. Right click to insert columns.. If that's what you mean. Otherwise, what can be interesting... Is it possible to export a batch list which you can then edit in excel? You can import batch lists created in excel, but if the reverse is workable, you can export the batch list, edit that in excel to your notes, then reimport batch list and reconnect the media. I'm on a wild assumption, so do a small test if you're going to try this out. www.strypesinpost.com
