XDCAM on FCP 5.1.4??

I was hoping that with all the plug ins required that I could work with XDCAM footage on Final Cut version 5.1.4. I have read somewhere that you can only work with XDCAM on FCP 6.02. Is this true? Thank you Phil UK

XDCAM is a format.
depending on the camera you could be looking for compatibility with DV, IMX, XDCAM HD, XDCAM HD 422 or XDCAM EX .... which specific codec did you need to work with?

Phil, XDCAM EX requires FCP 6.0.2 or later ... who knows how much or how little support is entrenched in the app code itself, but for a start 5.1.4 does not include the AppleHDVCodec.component version 1.4, which is the codec bundle where the XDCAM EX codec is stored...
