1080i HDV format conversion

Hello,
I'm shooting with a Sony HVR-V1U camera that shoots 1080i. The client wants an Online QuickTime movie in 720p 30. Is it safe to tell them "no problem, I can convert it to 720p in FCP without image loss." Would it help if I shot the 1080i with the Sony's "Progressive Mode" setting turned on? Any feedback or export settings would be appreciated.

First 1080i is interlaced material, so you wont be able to shoot progressive 1080 with that camera.

You should shoot your thing 1080i than in compressor, compressed your media file in 720p. Than deliver that quicktime movie to your client.
