pro res only HD?

Is Pro Res only meant for HD formats?
I ask as my Kona 2 has convert to Prores codecs,
but my Aja Io has no prores codecs, which leads me to
believe that prores is HD only.

No, but that is where you reap the most benefit. It gives you uncompressed HD quality at uncompressed SD files sizes. But if you work in SD, then savings won't be all that great...but the SD prores might save a little space.

You need the most current drivers allowed for that card. Those are pretty old, and ProRes is a new codec. You also need FCP 6 to capture ProRes...and an Intel Mac. The AJA I/O HD has a ProRes encoder built in, that is how it can get away with it. I doubt the I/O will work for this.

Call AJA for a more definite answer.

I use ProRes for all kinds of stuff - its a nice format and if you don't need full uncompressed but want 4:2:2 then its great.
