O.T. Capturing to DVPAL .mov on a PC

Hi,

I realise this is quite outside the scope normally covered here but I had a situation yesterday where my Mac was tied up rendering and I had access to 2 miniDV tapes only for a couple of hours in order to capture them.
(I couldn't pause the rendering as that project had to go out that day!)

I ended up copying the tapes using my deck and my XLH1 but that meant I then had to capture the copies afterwards which was kind of a waste of another 2 hours (it was seminar material so I needed to capture everything).

So... does anyone know of an app (I Googled and found that Quicktime Pro on the PC won't do it) that can capture DVPAL via Firewire to a PC laptop as a Quicktime .mov?

Sorry for being seriously off-topic but I know if the answer is available then it's usually available here!!

Thanks
James

Not sure, but I think the Windows MovieMaker will do it (as iMovie would). Depending on what Windoze version you have, it should be a freebie already on board.

Worth a try.

Thanks -I never even thought of that!!

I've had a look at MovieMaker (Vista Home Premium) and it seems to only capture to avi and wmv unfortunately.
