SmoothCam still missing, any ideas?Posted by pablotwa
Hi and thank you for reading this
Yesterday Nov 19th I was able to stump the gurus I have a 17 inch Mac Book Pro that I purchased 1 1/2 years ago. I have FCP 6 Academic. SmoothCam is no longer visible or available even after selecting all filters available. I am afraid to re-install because I am in the middle of an edit and I have lots of plugins that I need and I am afraid that I will lose something if I re-install. Any thoughts? and feel free to talk to me as if I were a 5 year old Thank you for any help Pablo Lewin
Hit "Apple 5" to bring up the effects palette. Right click/ctrl click, make sure that "show all effects" is selected.
If that doesn't work, make sure you have Motion properly installed. Check if you can see the other filters from Motion (eg. the fxplugs in the stylize palette, the Master templates, etc). www.strypesinpost.com
You could check in library>application support>ProApps>Internal plug-ins>fxplug
There should be a smoothcam folder. www.strypesinpost.com
The ONLY folders I have inside internal plugins are :
1) Browser Kit 2) FX Meta Plug 3) ProFX my fxplug folder is located in Library/plug-ins/fxplug and I have a bunch of plug ins and 3 (three) folders 1)looks 2)MBCC_Slider.fxplug 3)MBCC.fxplug Nevertheless smoothcam is nowhere to be seen Thank you so much for your time Sincerely Pablo Lewin
Hey guys something wonderful happened not 5 minutes ago I installed an update which appeared automatically in my my computer and low and behold it installed among other updates one for final cut pro to upgrade it to 6.05 and when it did I checked all the filters and SmoothCam was there!!!
Great!, thank you all for the help Take care Happy Holiday season and see you next year Pablo Lewin
Hi Guys,
If smoothcam is missing, chances are all FxPlug functionality is lost in FCP. Try re-installing FCS2 from the original CDs and then immediately run software update to bring FCS back to the latest versions. This should do the trick. Problem usually occurs after upgrading to Leopard and not doing a "clean" install. Regards, Niclas
