HD timeline to DV tape

HD timeline to DV tape

Alright I give up. How does one take an HD timeline (DVCPRO HD 720p 30) and output to DV tape, in my case via a Sony DSR-11? Everything is 29.97 frames- no frame rate mixing. I have tried pasting the HD timeline on to a DV NTSC timeline, rendering quicktime movies with assorted settings from DV to Pro Res 422 to DVCPRO HD via the timeline and compressor. I have tried every angle I can think of and nothing is working. Been at it for days. It can't be that hard. I sure could use some advise from some kind soul who has this figured out.

Export a self contained file...DVCPRO HD...sequence settings. Reimport that. Drop that onto a DV timeline. Render. Output via firewire. I have done this more than once...

That may have done the trick! It clicked magically into place when I opened a new project and used easy set up to create good old fashioned DV NTSC. Brining the movie into that project cleared away all the mess I probably created in experimenting with all the previous and various formats. Thanks, and nice pic, by the way....

By "HD timeline" where you talking about an HD sequence?

I'm just curious 'cause I think I want to try this.

Thanks!

Yes, timeline = sequence. And Shane's advice above worked very well.

Since I had a lot of sequences to record to several tapes (umpteen variations on a :30 spot) I created a second project as NTSC DV and imported the quicktime movies there, just so I wouldn't have to keep switching settings.

Shane-

That saves us a ton of anguish! But why the heck couldn't you take that sequence into Media Manager for a transcode to DV-NTSC??? That would be my first strategy.

Curious...

Without needing to trim or retain the original media files, I don't see why you'd have to use Media Manager. Export is the way to go here.
