FCP and AJA IOHD Issues

OSX 10.4.11
FCP 6.0.5

Have a AJA ioHD Box - and it does not like Final Cut.

It began with Motion not opening - not even acting as if it would launch.
Then Final Cut would act silly - not capturing, having issues logging, lock up, do weird things, and finally - when I would change my audio/visual settings for external monitoring - the gray screen of death would drape over my screen...warning me to shut down before the world exploded...well, ok - not quite to that extent, but you get the picture.

I have tried different versions of the AJA ioHD software - no good.
I've updated the firmware on the AJA box - no good.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the FC suite 2 times.
The final cut suite will run fine without the AJA box involved.
BUT - that leaves me with a AJA ioHD box that is not being used.

Any ideas or suggestions??

My co-worker has called them - he says they weren't of much help - but maybe we just need to contact a different team member from AJA? You know any names??

Make sure you don't have an external FW drive hooked up while capturing - the IO is taking over the FW bus and does NOT like anything else on the same bus at the same time.

Nope - no external drive hooked up.

HOWEVER, I AM connected to an XSAN...but that has never been a problem in the past.

That's not an issue, Xsan is connected via Fibre Channel not Firewire ther are no contention issues between the two.

I understand about the XSAN - was just putting it out there

Maybe a Leopard issue? I note you are running Tiger - are you also running QT 7.6?

as far as Guys to speak to at AJA - Gerald is GREAT, he may not know EVERYTHING. But he is
always great at finding things out. He was so good with me, I wrote an email to his boss.
