Is there a rule on sending freeze frames from the TL to motion using the send to motion command?

I have tried about 10 times to send a freeze frame to motion but when it arrives to motion3 the layers pane shows a group with the TC mark of the freeze but there is no image.

I'd try another way- freeze frames wreak havoc with media management. Like export as a still and use it that way.

Correct. Since FCP doesn't create MEDIA when you make a still or freeze frame, trying to SEND this anywhere, or use the Media Manager on this...is ripe with issues.

I don't mind the freeze frame option as you don't lose a generation making a freeze frame.

It's under Export>Quicktime Conversion. You select "still image" and make a png.

I don't think sending Png can work with Color. Probably Motion...

ok let's take it this way:

What does transfer from Fcp to Motion ?

1 - One filter, The SmoothCam, becoming Stabilyse in Motion

2 - the whole Motion Tab (I mean anything you've done in the Motion Tab ) with the exception of the Blurs.

- No Crop Border soft (Edge Feather) because Motion doesn't soft crop borders. (You have to do it one other way and YES , that a big wanted feature !

- No Motion Blur, because Motion holds it differently.

is Freeze frame included is the list ? no, so don't even bother ...

Still... and back to subject... so Time Remap (being part of Motion Tab) is sent to Motion. Therefore... do your Freeze Frame in the Motion Tab's Time Remap . Work on the curve, a horizontal line between two Keyframes, and it will transfer to Motion.
------------

Caveat : If your are working interlaced you might encounter some flicker issues that will require proper treatment on an exported png
