o.k. So, using "Capture Now" you end up with ten minutes of a solid clip on the timeline.
You now want to cut into ten pieces, and drag each piece back to the browser and re name. oh yeah, each "piece" might have a filter of color correction. HOW CAN I DRAG back into the browser, re name, without changing the name of the master clip. Any help? many many thanks. Nichole and Claire will be forever grateful. PH
When you drag the clip back into the browser, before you release the mouse, hold down the OPT and CMD keys. you should see a little +m sign next to the cursor. When you release, FCP makes a new master clip that you can rename without it affecting the original master.
One caveat. The clip in the sequence that you used to make the new browser clip will still be referencing the original master, not the new one you made. Andy

> oh yeah, each "piece" might have a filter of color correction. You probably should have subclipped these before editing them. But to each his/her own. And then again, unless it's a documentary, I wouldn't have recommended capturing 10 minutes of radically different footage in one chunk; I would have logged them. www.derekmok.com
