Lower 3rd or "Proberty of..." burned into picture

Hello to all,

I compressed a 44:30 viewing copy of a show and forgot to add "Property of (company name)" over the picture. I need to burn to DVD so I can send viewing copies to clients. Is there a way for me to add the "Property of (company name)" to the compressed file and make the DVD or do I have to go back to FCP, add the "Property of..." track and recompress?

As always, thanks in advance!!!!

Peace,
Lisha

Use Compressor. It has an option for adding a text watermark. In the INSPECTOR in the FILTERS tab, click on TEXT OVERLAY.

This works for any compression you make...this adds the text to the whole thing.

Hi Shane,

Should I trash the file I spent 3 hours compressing and start with a new file? Export from FCP using compressor, in compressor add the "text overlay" :-) and compress a new file?

Thanks so much!

Never use the "export using Compressor" function in Final Cut Pro.

Export a Quicktime of your timeline, then run that Quicktime through a Compressor virtual cluster, adding the burn-in there.

Even on a MacBook, it shouldn't take anything like three hours to encode a 45-minute show.

for the watermark to work in compressor it has to have an alpha channel.

when i was working on a show where we didnt have Photshop, i made the watermarks in FCP, using the simple text generator.
then exported using Quicktime Conversion to Still Image: TIFF format.

to add the watermark in Compressor,
go to the Filters pane in the Inspector, and tick "Watermark"
then navigate to your file, and adjust the settings to taste.
