Effect How to??

Morning all,
I know you've seen this a hundred times. Sometimes used to heighten action or in dream sequences.
It appears like its double exposed and that there is a double image moving across the screen. the images finally converge. Most times, the video is slowed down a bit too.

I tried stacking copies of the same track and keyframing an offset. But it is just not there yet. Is there some crucial "tweak" to make this look cool??

Maybe I've seen it a hundred times, but I can't place it from your description. Can you cite a specific example of what you're talking about?

quick and dirty way might be to apply (to the topmost clip) a levels filter jacking up the brightness then do an overlay or screen composite mode then play with the opacity

Trails baby! Like when you slow the shutter speed way down on a video camera? There's probably a plug-in out there for that?
