windowmedia to work in FCP

Unfortunatly, I dont' know to much about the camera they used. I received footage that was recorded on a consumer camera, they gave me the footage on a dvd. They can play it fine on a PC using windows media player. When I try on my Mac the computer itself either reads it as the disc is blank or it opens in quicktime with no audio. The format is MPEG. When I import the footage in FCP, I still don't have audio tracks.

Any suggestions?

MacPro, Final Cut studio 2, latest upgrades included Quicktime (not QTX)

It's probably muxed audio, meaning that the audio stream is embedded inside the MPEG track. FCP doesn't recognize muxed audio which is why you can't hear anything.

Download a free program called MPEG Streamclip. It can read the file, demux and then export it properly to a format you can edit in.

Brilliant Andy! You are a genius. It worked perfectly. Best part is that it was free.
Thank you!
