Yes....this addresses only the newer MacPro and Xserve machines. If you have older machines, there is no reason to get this.

I wonder how common it is to run Final Cut on an Xserve? I've thought about it before, for density-in-the-machine-room reasons, but the dearth of expansion slots just kills it for me.

6.0.6 files would be backwards-compatible with 6.0.5, right?

It depends- often a .1 release breaks backwards compatibility.

That's what used to happen, but I thought that starting with 6.0.5 they had made project files backwards compatible within the 6.x version.

My MPro is older so I won't need this, but if a client sends me a 6.0.6 file I'd like to know if I can open it. Anyone have time to test this? I'm in the middle of a project, won't be able to upgrade for a while...

i have both, on separate machines,

so YES 606 projects will open in 605
