We are in FCP Studio 6.5. We are trying to put time sensitive commercials to 1080i. The Sony camera that we are trying to record do is model HVR-V1U. The camera says it's recording but it's not. The time code on the camera is rolling, the record button is red, the viewer is blue screen. The camera will not grab the tape and record. Can anyone help with correct settings or suggestions?
Thanks from Sheryl
Is the sequence setting you are sending to the deck HDV? Did you use the PRINT TO VIDEO option?

What Shane and Tom said.
Are you in Camera mode or Playback mode? On my A1U (and many others) you switch to Playback or "VCR" mode, and line recording comes in over FireWire that way. - Loren Today's FCP keytip: Nudge a Canvas layer by subpixel with Command-Option-Arrows ! It may seem obvious, but make sure you're working in a format that camera can record. For example, the Canon XL H1 can shoot 1080p24 just fine, but you can't lay a 1080p24 timeline off to it over Firewire. It has to do with pulldown and such; the system automatically removes pulldown recorded by the camera when it captures, but it has no facility to automatically re-insert pulldown on lay-off.
