Discreet HD cameras?

Not a related topic par say but one that requires asking. I have noticed some thorough advice on this forum given to people contemplating investing is video cameras. I want a small and discreet HD camera for filming spontaneous interviews. My questions are which one? and can you record broadcast quality sound on such cameras? There are many, I tend to go more for Panasonic or Sony. In the UK they cost from £250 to £1000. What do think? Cheers phil UK

The Sony A1 is a cracking little camera, i have used it on a couple of occasions and was really impressed with it. More so because of the XLR attachment that comes with it allowing balanced audio recording. Plus it can record both HDV1080i and DVCAM.....

But it's a little above the budget you've listed, the cameras in that range will be more consumer orientated with built in microphone's with a mini jack input for an external mic. Chris.
