Transcoding to Flash cheaply?

What's the latest on transcoding to Flash without going broke?

I have a friend who's redesigning his site. The designer wants to go Flash for web video playback. The problem we don't otherwise work with Flash, so when there are new trailers/promo video to go on the site, we'd have to figure out a solution to get the video to .flv. I'm frankly no fan of Flash, but I recognize it does offer some advantages.

Looking for cheap options as the only video to go to Flash would be for the web. Not impressed by ffmpegX or Visual Hub. Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Also, CRAM for Compressor

There's a Flash "cheat" preset for Compressor that will give you an .flv file

Oh CRAM. Nice! Been meaning to pick that up anyway.

I wonder how it pulls off .flv without Flash? I guess by using H.264?
