off-topic - HD Size -

Hi Guys,
My imac has a 250GB internal hard drive. I have an external 1T where I store everything.
No major files in my mac. I see my internal HD is 50% full.
Are this figures all right????
Or are some hidden files I dont need and are just wasting space.

This is basic stuff. Your apps really have nothing to do with it.

Are you using your boot drive as your capture scratch? You probably have been rendering to your boot drive. Go into ~/Users/YOUR USER ACCOUNT HERE/Documents/Render Files and do a Command/I on that folder. If you haven't been exporting QT Ref files, delete all in that folder.

Also I see "juicer3 which means you are using Digital Juice clips. R U storing those in some secret location on yourdrive?

MY capture scratch disk and render disk is set up in the external 1T (last week I deleted all render files of projects already delivered to my client, I deleted about 100 GB)

Digital Juice is also store in the external drive. I have around 150 GB of juice.


All these apps shouldnt take that many space

* Open your HD Contents in LIST VIEW
* Menu Bar/View/Show View Options
* Check Calculate All Sizes
* Click the "Size" column in the window to sort by large size down
* Look where the largest files are
* Decide if you need them or can delete them

There is a very handy, and free, program called OmniDiskSweeper that scans your computer and sorts everything according to file size. It' makes finding the space-hogs a breeze. Also, have you emptied your trash recently?

You can also do a search in the finder- size, is greater than, x GB.

I would be looking in the Library folder if i were you and not the application folder - thats normally where the meaty files tend to lurk!
