Blu-Ray - Matrox Compress HD - BDR-203
September 30, 2009 12:16AM
As you can see this is a three part query:

I need to burn Blu-ray disk, I have had some success using Share directly from FCP to create AVCHD DVD's that work with Blu-ray players. I'd be very interested in others experiences with this.

I'd also like to hear from anyone using the Matrox Compress HD card and how you burn to Blu-ray.

And finally is anyone using the Pioneer BDR-203?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am still on FC6 so I don't have Share.
I use the Pioneer 203 in a box with USB2 and eSATA connections. I haven't been able to connected through eSATA with my Sonnet E4P card and with USB2 it is very slow. It actually burns regular DVDs slower than 2X.
I bought it from Videoguys and they send me a new box and burner and still no improvement.

That's a bummer, I just received the same thing. I'll try the eSATA. Hopefully that will be faster.

Have you burned a Blu-Ray?

Yes, I have burned a few with Toast 9.x. The quality is good but it doesn't have dvdsp authoring capabilities.
I actually use more the regular DVDs to burn BD for anything less that 45 mins.
What eSATA card do you have?
Let me know how it works for you.
