Quicktime Pro X with Final Cut Studio?Posted by chrisrash
I tried transcoding a video in Quicktime X, and apparently, the option to export is no longer available. I'm guessing that I only have Quicktime Player X and not Quicktime Pro X. Doesn't the installation of Final Cut Studio include Quicktime Pro?
My theory is that since I installed Final Cut Studio 3 when I was running OS 10.5.6 and then later installed Snow Leopard without doing a clean install, Final Cut Studio installed Quicktime Pro 7, which was then overwritten by Quicktime X when I installed Snow Leopard. By that logic, if I re-install Final Cut Studio now that I have Snow Leopard installed, it should give me the license for Quicktime Pro X, right? Anyone have an ideas?
You sure QT7 is not still hiding on your HD- it should be.

Here's another issue along the same lines...
When trying to bring transcode a .VOB file from a DVD using MPEG Streamclip, it tells me that I have to buy the $30 Quicktime MPEG-2 Component. Never before installing Snow Leopard did I have to buy a special plug-in to transcode material from a DVD in MPEG Streamclip. Is there a new free piece of software that I can use to get material from DVD straight to ProRes without having to go to some highly compressed format first?
UPDATE:
In case anyone is having the same problem, this is from Squared 5's website: http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
