There is a free QT plug in called Perian that will sort you out.

Hope this helps

I'm always a bit leery when someone says rip- if it's for paid work make sure you are not breaking a copyright for a client. If they get sued, you get sued too...

MPEG Streamclip. The new Toast can also open and convert some web videos.
And what Noah said, re: copyright.

Yeah...this is not a forum for exchanging illegal ripping software ideas so please observe the legalities of it all. If it ain't public domain, get permission.

And 'ripping' is such a violent word, let's call it something more pleasant like lifting or sampling....

So is 'cutting'. How about "joining" or "patching" or "connecting".

"Ripping" sounds a lot like "Stealing". Try "regifting".

I have no intention of using anything without a license. But when offlining and trying to figure out what you need, you have to try things, see if they work, then buy the stuff you use.

Two things.
One: Every editor on the planet does this. Every single one.
Two: None of us ever do this, obviously. Because it's technically ? technically ? unlawful to do this. So obviously ? obviously ? none of us ever do this. Ever.
I don't even know what you people are talking about.

How about "trying to get the job done for clearances?"

>i seem to remember it causing some problems.
I remember it was caused by an incompatible OS/Perian versions or something and a Perian update fixed that. You can always uninstall it, but it's the only way to work with many of the older web codecs.
