Love the new iMac with 27" screen, i7 Chip Set and 16GB RAM...!!!

Question: will this configuration REALLY do anything beneficial for editing, rendering, exporting, etc., in FCP? Or, am I just a techo-junkie that loves more "horse-power"??

My current iMac with 4GB of RAM seems to do just fine, albeit rather slow on rendering. My projects are not terribly large. Have not done any more than 45 minutes maximum; most are 20 to 30 minutes final export.

Not really, for what you're doing. Going from the 24 to the 27 definitely slips into the techno-junkie realm smiling smiley

So, the 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 processor and 16GB of RAM won't really make processing any faster than what I already have? Guess that means I get to save nearly $5,000 if I don't buy it!

But, I'm weak and my Mac store knows it..... ;-)

It will make it a bit faster, but not a truckload faster. FCP still won't address more than 4GB of RAM, I think, so it's only the processor jump that will really change.

You won't see $5000 worth of improvement, anyway. If you were going from a G4 or something, however..
