Custom Key Layout QuestionPosted by DM
Can a modifier key by itself be assigned a function? I want to assign the control key as the "view timeline" shortcut, instead of command 3. I want a key that is right under my fingers to toggle between these two windows. So happens that the modifier keys are, i.e. shift, cmd, control etc... easy to hit.
Selecting the active window is also a pain with the mouse. Constantly remembering to select between the viewer and timeline, with the mouse or a two stroke key command isn't economical enough for me..... Seems that the no modifier strokes are already assigned to heavily used functions. thx FC ver 7
Take a look at QuicKeys for fancier keyboard options. For instance, you can't remap the arrow keys, because they're hard-wired to the OS, like the Control key and others. I always remap arrows in Avid Xpress to enlarge-shrink the timeline. With QuicKeys you can map Option - Plus/Minus (enlarge/shrink FCP timeline) to the arrow keys, works a peach.
QuicKeys give you a full 30-day demo. There are users here who live by it. - Loren Today's FCP 7 keytip: Invoke Big Timecode window with Control-T! Your Final Cut Studio KeyGuide? Power Pack. Now available at KeyGuide Central. www.neotrondesign.com
