Can't get video into FCP from Panasonic 170 HELP !!!!!

Can't get footage that was shot on Panasonic 170 into FCP. Keep getting "ERROR NO DATA"
footage is 720 30pn. we are using the MXF files to import. the files are on the computer hard drive after they were on an external hard drive ...

Have you ever brought P2 media into FCP before?

If you are pointing log and transfer to the wrong level of folder, you will get this error, you need to be pointing it at a folder that contains a folder that is labeled "Contents" and a TXT file labeled LASTCLIP.TXT. If you are pointing log and transfer anywhere else, you are doing this incorrectly. If either of these two files are labeled anything but Contents and LASTCLIP.TXT, it will not work.

Are you sure that the media is "there"? What do you see if you Apple-I on the master folder that the P2 data is contained in? Does the space taken up on the drive seem right based upon how much footage was shot?

We are doing it correctly because you can see the video when in the log an transfer window. It's just when you import it. it doesn't happen.

Are any of the clips spanned? Also, which version of FCP? Are trying to bring in more than one card at a time? If they were all shot sequentially, you should be.

FCP 6.0.6 we were importing fottage from multiple cameras. 4 total. the other footage was fine. it was just this footage on different cards from the 170 camera/ we have since copied the MXF Files onto hard drives along with the other footage and tried on 3 different computers and still nothing...

What happens if you try to load those 170 files using P2 Log Pro or P2CMS? You need to establish of the files themselves are viable or if you are just having an import issue. Try to play the files in question in P2CMS or P2 Log Pro. That will tell you if the files are viable or if you are doing something incorrectly in FCP. Also, if you can load those files using P2CMS or P2 Log Pro, you could then export finished .mov files that FCP could import.

we couldn't try that , since we had to give the client the hard drive. we told the client to have his post host do the import...
