MiniDV - MB Pro - No Firewire - Capture nightmare?

I have miniDV footage to capture on my 2009 MBP - so no Firewire
What I have done so far is use my old Powerbook and capture using iMovie.

Do you guys think that what iMovie captured is as good as what FCP would have captured?
Or any trick on getting the footage on my Firewireless-MBP?

All MBP have Firewire - get a FW800 to FW400 adaptor or if you need to go direct to the Camera with a 4pin get a FW800 to FW400 4pin lead.

...Only Macbook Air and Later MacBook models have no FireWire

All Pro Models have at least 1 Firewire 800 port

It isn't. Because .dv captures from iMovie don't have timecode.

Mac Hollywood should stock them [www.machollywood.com]

Give them a call first.

Mac Hollywood has it
thx

But should I recapture now using FCP or am I ok to just transfer the DV files created by iMovie on my PB to my MBP? (I don't need TC)

Personally I would log and capture in FCP, so you can always do a batch capture later if you need to.

imovie capture does not have time-code and is in .dv and not .mov

also all clips captured in iMovie will have to have their audio rendered in FCP.

maybe this has changed since i had to deal with iMovie footage.
it was a real pain!
