Filter to burn-in text based on clip name?Posted by JustinB
I'm looking for a FCP filter that will allow me to add text to a clip based on the name of the clip. The idea is to have the scene/take numbers burnt into the clips for later reference. Like how they might arrive from a lab. So for example the clip named 37A-2 would have the text "37A-2" superimposed on in somewhere.
I seem to remember there being a free plugin out there that does this trick. I can't seem to find it now that I really need it though. Does anyone know of anything like that? - Justin Barham -
there's no filter that can do that in FCP.
it's actually impossible for a filter to acces the clip name, believe it or not. however there is a solution from Sherico Filmtools based on XML: [www.spherico.com] cheers, nick
There's no way to call the clip name or other metadata by having the filter somehow access XML?
That's a pretty limited filter structure, I'd say. - Loren Today's FCP 7 keytip: Invoke Range Check in Viewer or Canvas with Control-Z ! Your Final Cut Studio KeyGuide? Power Pack. Now available at KeyGuide Central. www.neotrondesign.com
well i just stumbled across "Clip Labeller" from David Heidelberger
Clip Labeler - Takes an XML from a Final Cut Pro sequence and generates a new sequence containing the original sequence with Outline Text generators above each clip, displaying the clip name. This is useful in situations where a client asks to see all your footage. This is PARTICULARLY useful when dealing with unnamed P2 footage, where clips are called "0007E7," for example. This program is an excellent companian to my XML Analyzer, also available on this page. many other interesting tools on this page: [www.davidheidelberger.com]
