Correct Sequence Settings for XDCAM 1440x1080 23.976 in ProRes

Hi!
I'd like to know which of these timelines I should be using for XDCAM (35MB) 1440x1080 @23.976fps on a ProRes Timeline

1) aja kona2 1080psf 23.98 prores

2)apple prores 1440x1080 24p

Thanks

The Kona preset will give you full raster HD which is better if you have lots of text elements.

The second ProRes preset will give you an anamorphic HD setting, which is better if you want to reduce the render time. The anamorphic HD setting has the same frame size as your XDCAM footage so FCP will not be doing any scaling to the footage.

For better RT performance, it is best to edit in an XDCAM timeline and set render codec to ProRes.

Thanks very much.

My other editor is using Adobe Premiere on a PC i7,
and can not read the XDCAM codec natively, so I
thought I would set up a prores timeline and export
directly to a directory on the PC.

So, there is no render going on in FCP.

I plopped all the raw footage on the prores timeline (at present 1440x1080 24p prores)
then sent it to a batch export to his drive.

I was concerned about whether the Kona2 setting was the right one.

But I'm ok......

There is because you are rendering to a different codec. There is no scaling/resizing if you use the 1440x1080 preset. I'm not sure if Premiere can handle an anamorphic ProRes HD file, but it should.

No problem with prores, even anamorphic.
