upgrading from G5

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for my new upgrade. I am now using a G5 with FCP 6. I am upgrading to FCP 7 and was wondering what the best Mac would be for this upgrade. I'm looking at the New Mac Pro or the iMac 27 inch. (either the i5 or the i7)
Any suggestions?

What kind of work do you do? High Def, fast turnaround, massive amounts of data, or standard def, long term projects, or something else? The more critical your quality, speed and data storage needs, the more you need to spend on your rig to make it a comfortable experience. The less critical, the more you can get away with spending less.

The bulk of work is HD, Fast Turnaround...Lots of data.

I would go for a mid 8 core Mac Pro they have lots of future expansion and very fast.

Yeah the Imac makes it hard to expand. If you need speed and space, I would go with the Mac Pro.
