Problem importing a .mov clip

I have a .mov clip on a portable drive that copies fine onto my iMac Intel 2.16Ghz. Yet, when I try to copy it to my MacPro (Intel) drives to insert in a FCP 6.5 project, I get a notice that it can't be imported because "Some date can't be read or written". I can import it into one Intel Mac but not the other. I converted the file to Photo-JPEG and to ProRes 422, but it still would not copy onto my MacPro drives, giving me the same message. Any ideas?

The exact same copy? Are you having trouble with any other files on that computer? What does Quicktime report the clip is?

Jude:
The person who sent the clips to me swore they were working fine on his computer. However, I asked him to send them again and they came in fine this time. Sorry to have bothered you, and thank you for the response.

No problem Stan. The possibly got corrupted during the transfer so your first copies were no good.
