I just filmed footage for a project and after I hooked my camera up to my computer and click File>Log And Capture, I get the message "To Capture HDV Source material, both the Capture and Device Control presets must be configured for HDV; otherwise, to capture in another format, both must not be configured for HDV."

The Capture preset is HDV. The Device Control is HDV Firewire. The camera is a Canon HV20. I am using Final Cut Pro 5.0 on Mac OSX, version 10.4.11 .

I am not good at this technical stuff whatsoever, so if I am making a stupid mistake I apologize, but if someone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Make sure you are updated to at least 5.0.3. And then choose the HDV 1080i60 Easy Setup, and make the Device Control to Generic HDV. But this is the first version to support HDV, and Canon HDv has always been problematic with FCP...so no guarantees.
