Out of Memory

I've got a problem with FCP 7.

I've been getting Out of Memory messages and so killing renders in the Render Manager to get over it.

This seems to have produced a Fin-00000001 cannot be found problem and corrupted one of the clips.

I'm trying to render out a time line that produced the clip I was working and get an Out of Memory error message.

I've lots of memory on the hard drive. I'm not scared that I could corrupt and make unplayable other clips if I tinker with the Render Manager.

Any idea how to get over this?

Usually this caused by photos. Make sure that they are 72 dpi and just large enough for your needs. If they don't have any motion keep them to 1920 x1080 in HD.

Also, go to sequence settings and in the render tab, set it to "8 bit YUV".

Would you still do that if you had a 10 bit clip?

I usually do the grading outside of FCP, so that doesn't affect exports, but will get the stills to render. And yes, I will do that if I had large stills and the only way to render it out is to set it to 8 bit YUV.
