HD offline with fcp and Ti

<HTML>Hi guys!

We are trying to set up an off line editing solution
for field work using a downconverted signal frm a
Miranda( right now we have an NTSC demo version but we
have ordered a PAL one) a DV deck and a G4 Powermac,
as far as we have gone everything works fine but we
have a big problem with Tc cause no DV cheap PAL VTR
has TC in, we were thinking in the JVC Dv 600 great
machine but Pal version has a spare TC in input.

Questions:

Is it posible to embed a tc signal in a dv stream by
using any blackbox ?

Is it posible to hack the TC in port to make it work
in a JVC DV-600 Pal Vtr?

Can i use the Audio 2 chanel for timecode, and if so
FCP2 will recognize it?

Last but no least, how can i enter the time code
manually once the material is in FCP, i have tried few
options but didn't got any succes.

Thanks in Advance
Best Regards

<HTML>No, I know of now way to embed a TC signal in a DV stream. In line with all NLE devices TC is received via the device control. You would have to go to one of the Sony DVCAM decks - DSR 80, 1500, 1800, 2000 - to be able to set the TC on the tape. This is the only option I am aware of.

no, not only do I know of no hack for the JVC DV-600 but are you even sure it will work with FCP? Even the NTSC version is not qualified and there are NO JVC cameras or decks qualified for PAL.

You could use audio 2 for timecode but final Cut pro, along with even NLE that I know, cannot use it. NLE's get their TC over the device control connection be it FireWire or RS422.

Yes, definitely. You can set the Timcecode for a Clip in Final Cut Pro by going to the modify menu, timecode and enter the new TC from their.
