mini dv tape premium or excellence?

<HTML>I was wondering if anyone knows the primary reason for Sony dv mini tapes premium and excellence price difference. Excellence is almost twice as much. Worth it?

The excellence has a memory chip in it. it saves certin information on the tape I have really never used it. I really don't know anybody who does use it.
