FCS Documentation and manuals up on apple site!

Posted by dave chalmers
Hi all,

If, like me, you are counting the days till FCS drops on the doormat, you could while away some hours reading all the fabby new docs just posted to the apple support pages including....(drum roll)....FULL USER MANUALS!
Hooray!

..or at least I think they are full manuals - still downloading them as I type!!

Just thought you lot would like to know this.

Main link is here

and then you drill down into each app to the support pages with all the goodies!!

Happy reading.

Dave
Nice find Dave.

yes, thanks, dave.

Looks like the next week release rumor could be true.

Well actually this is Apple's new support strategy. The manuals come out THREE MONTHS before the program so everyone actually has TIME to RTFM. This way they won't be hit with a zillion "how do I?" or "why isn't ___ working . . . oh." phone calls.

Thanks for that Dave. Great to have the opportunity to be one step ahead of the people calling with problems the day of release!

Wait, does this mean we now have to call it "FCS" instead of "FCP"???

That just looks and sounds wayyyyyyy tooooooo weird!

I think I'll being sticking with "FCP" even when I'm using "FCS".

Geez, it even feel weird to type it! Bah humbug!

:-p

No. FCP is still FCP, except that it is now available at version 5. FCS refers to the whole suite of applications, which include FCP, SP, Motion, and DVDSP.

Sorry, this was my bad attempt of being very sarcastically humorous. I wasn't necessarily serious on that matter.

;-)

There were numerous names the Pro Apps Marketing team went through before settling on Final Cut Studio. It's true.

FCO ( Final Cut Office)
FCC (Final Cut Cut)
FES ( Fabulous Editing Software)
FEH ( Finally Edit HDV)
FOE (Final Operator Error)
FCP3OA (FCP and 3 Other Apps)

Hey Dave,
Just finished browsing Apples web site and couldn't find the manuals you mentioned.

Can you put up a link?
Thanks

Sorry,
I think I found it under manuals ... Daaah ...
I like Fabulous Editing Software. Thanks for that suggestion, Mike. :-)

The manuals themselves are a major accomplishment. These guys have to be recognized for the number of man hrs. this took to achieve. Of course we're all going to have a brain tumor trying to assimilate all the knowledge.

Dave
...can sombody put up links to the specific MANUALS - I can't find them.

Thanx.
