connecting powerbook to tv

Posted by biggs-wedge2
i've just tried connecting my 12" powerbook g4 to a tv. i'm using a mini-dv to vga converter and a vga to s-video converter. i can see that the computer is sending something to the tv, but it's just wavey lines. when i switch the resolution and/or hertz level it changes the kind of wavey lines, but it still doesn't work correctly. any idea of a way to fix this. thanks.
Uh...your powerbook should come equiped with an S-video out right on the side of the computer.
12" powerbooks don't have S-video out... only the 15" and 17" do.
Ah...I see that now.

Are you trying to view your computer screen on a TV? Or previewing video from FCP using TV as a monitor?

Are you using the mini DVI port? Cuz mini-DV is not the same thing!

Cut out the middle man, don't go DVI>VGA>S-video, find a solution that will go DVI>S-video. That Monster Cable product looks like it fits the bill.

Or go firewire > deck or camera > rca cables > tv.
