OK, settled on my mixer (thanks guys) and would like a small pair of near field speakers. Anyone use/recommend the Dx-4s? Rolands?

Hi, John:

I have a pair on one of my PT workstations- they are fine.

They are designed to be close field monitors, so as long as they are positioned accordingly and directed at the operator's working position, they work as advertised. If the operator is a bit off axis to the tweeters, they start to mush up- I mean one loses the perception of high end brightness.

If you need a bigger sweet spot, then I'd go with something else.

So a client in the room, sitting behind me and slightly to one side is going to out of the spot eh?

You're going to need something else. We've never been happy with Near Field Monitors. My joke is that's the manufacturer's license to make bad speakers.

"You weren't sitting in the Sweet Spot."

I'll give you Sweet Spot....

I'm editing in a home office, room is 12' x 12'. I'm worried anything much larger is going to be too much for such a small space (and royally piss off my neighbor). What are you using Koz?
