Stereo/Split Audio Output

I need to output a spot with 4 channels of audio - once with stereo/m&e, then again on the same tape with split audio. Then I need to repeat this for 54 spots on the same tape...

Is there a way to line up everything (stereo spot, split spot, stereo spot, split spot, etc.) in a single timeline to edit to tape? Or do I have to insert from two seperate timelines ?

specs: FCP 4.5, OS 10.3.9, AJA Kona 2, Digibeta

in 4.5 you will have to do 2 captures for each spot.

FCP5 will capture multiple tracks simultaneously if your hardware suports it.
does your kona card have 4 audio inputs?

this is not relevent to your situation, but i just read that DV does not count as suported hardware for mutichanel audio capture.

for your output, there should be no problem.
you can rout the audio outputs of specific tracks.
first you establish how many outputs, and what sort (stereo, dual mono) in the sequnce settings audio outputs tab.
then you control click near the lock icon on the timeline to chose the apropriate output.

multi chanel out put is the easy part,
for multichanel input you will need FCP5.

cheers,
