The lafcpug store has em all and all are very different.
For a tutorial type book, choose "Apple Pro Training Series" FCP 4.5 or Tom Wolsky's book, or Larry Jordan's. If you want a reference book, there is none better than "Final Cut Pro 5 for Mac OS X : Visual QuickPro Guide by Lisa Brenneis. Might as well get 5 cause you are bound to get version 5 sooner or later. Click here for the books [www.lafcpug.org] Michael Horton -------------------
Get em all! - I bought FCP1 at NAB when it first came out (was about to drop serious change on an AVID system) after I left ABC News full time and set up my own production company.
I literally taught myself with Lisa and Tom's books and the outstanding tutorials here at LAFCPUG and Ken Stone's site and CreativeCow.....several thousand dollars worth of education for very few bucks.....and I no longer have any of the books (have passed them on to other FCP new comers....)...(although Lisa - looking forward to your FCP5 reference!) By the way Larry Jordan's book - also excellent ..and an outstanding time saving tip book - Final Cut pro 4 on th espot by Richard Harrington and Abba Shapiro (local DC Area editor and instructor) You can't go wrong with any and all of these - plus just putting in the time and reading the excellent tutorials deep within this site. Best - Andy Field
I came up a list of good books for FCP and related programs as well as what they are good for
