capturing beta to fcp5

We are running multiple macs, both are 2.5 ghz G5 with 1.5 gb DDR SDram. One is running os 10.3.9, the other is running 10.3.6, but both have the same problem.
We are trying to go from our sony betacam sp deck, through an Aja IoLa into the mac, we have plenty of room on our local HD, along with 2, 250 gig HDs. When we go to capture we get a choppy, dropped frame look. The other day we were able to capture betacam footage, now we are not, we have also tried different betatapes. Any help would be appreciated.

My initial thought would be to make absolutely certain that your capture settings are correct. Also, do you have a blackburst running to both the IO and the Beta deck?
