Tiff file GKX not importing

I have a tiff title of a band name that must be a transparent tiff to lay over a commercial. It came from OSX via email and also via zip and it will not import into FCP. What works here? Thank you...

Will not import? Is it greyed out in the import window? If it opens in Photoshop, try a Save as.

That probably means it is a PC made tif, or that it is greyscale or cmyk and not rgb. Open in photoshop on your mac, make sure it is rgb and do a save as. BTW, I didn't know you could save transparent layers as a tif. You may have to save it as a PSD file for that, which is fine, FCP likes those too.

That has been my experience.

FCP likes PhotoShop files Opened and Saved As on the same Mac FCP is running on.

RGB absolutely... sometimes fonts are an issue in unflattened files that use fonts ... etc.
