Now I'm not saying Thelma cut this in Final Cut Pro... it's just worth celebrating.

If you haven't already, check out this wonder at

And count all the movie references Marty's thrown in.

Thinking outside the box:

It looks like a big budget Freixenet commercial spot. I can't tell if this is real or a put-on. Marty's Amex commercial did that to me.

This sucked me in too, Joey. It's absolutely brilliant. In my feedback, I said, "Marty, get permission from the Hitchcock estate and finish this film!"

Then I did some drilling and howled. Oh, man, he's good.

So maybe it should be "Alfred Hitchcock's The Key to Reserva", a film by Martin Scorcese." Why the hell not? If a series about cavemen can be spun from silly Geico commercials, anything's possible.

The only thing I would have done diferently is to have the accomplice in the audience leave his seat-- not the frigging second violinist! That's just unbelievable.

So far I see
- THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH (murder in theatre)
- NORTH BY NORTHWEST (Saul Bass-like opening title, ROT handkerchief, plus score)
- REAR WINDOW (flashbulb and fall from balcony)
- THE BIRDS (end gag)

Must be more in there...

The camera treatment is spot on. Even the color, lighting, makeup and wardrobe say "Hitchock, Universal Picture, circa 1965." What fun. Everybody take a look.

Haha. It looked as if almost every shot was taken off a Hitchcock film- almost every one a signature shot when i looked at it. Swore the high angle shot of him going up the stairs was Hitchcockish, also in establishing the protagonist with a shot on the hand (instead of the usual face)- cant' remember which film.

I'm also wondering if it's a commercial... but wow... it's really well done.

I would like to know, how high tech was the equipment Scorcese used to make this?

Could Hitchcock's style be duplicated using a couple of Panasonic DVX100's, a Canon XL2, FCP and AE?
Of course, this all has to start with a decent story and characters.
