which settings in compressor for hdv 1080i60?Posted by evarita
Hello and many thanks in advance.
I am cutting on fcp 6. I have a 17 minute sequence with several layers of video at times. My sequence settings are HD 1080i60. could you tell me which compressor setting I should use to then go to dvd studio and show on screen? I am totally befuddled with all of the setting options. thanks, evartia
I don't mean to be rude, but have you read the DVD Studio Pro manual? It explains very well what all those options are that have befuddled you.
DVD Studio Pro is a very feature-rich, complex tool. If you're looking for a tutorial, I believe the software comes with one under the "Help" menu. (I might be mistaken about that; it's been a long time.) Otherwise, there are resources online that can provide tutorials or training. I mention this because your question basically boils down to "How do I do this?" and that's pretty open-ended. Generally speaking, you'll have better luck soliciting help on a forum by asking specific questions that people can answer quickly, rather than asking people to invest a lot of time writing an in-depth how-to that covers all the possible things you might be trying to accomplish.

Okay, here's what I did, but please, don't feel it necessary to stress over. I really don't mean to take advantage of your expertise. I created an HD 1080i60 sequence in final cut 6. Went to export to compressor. Went to dvd best quality 90 for my settings. I dragged the dolby digital professional setting and the mpeg 2 setting into the drag to box in compressor. Selected a target and hit the submit button. Then in dvd studio I deleted the menu box in the graphical view. Then I dragged each asset into the green Track one box. Selected a first read(start point) and burnt it to a disk. The disk will play on my mac but is declared unrecognizable on a regular, not mac, dvd player. So that's the deal. Thanks for your help. I know this is very basic. My fault. I waited till the time crunch instead of reading up ahead of time. Bad Girl! Check your DVDSP preferences. Make sure you are not set to "HD DVD" (upconversion in DVDSP shouldn't even be possible). Make sure 1st play is set to the right track on the disc inspector.
