best settings form Sony HDR-SR10

I have been having an issue with compressor. Can't seem to get through a rather long project (3.5 hours) I have my Final Cut sequence set for the Apple ProRes422. When got home, I could not log into the computer and had to restart. Compressor had only done about half of the video encode. Am I missing a setting that would cause a hang? I am definetly a newbie, any help would be appreciated, thanks!!

Okay, for some reason, I can't seem to log onto the Sony site right now, so I don't know what that camera shoots. I'm assuming it's AVCHD.

How did you bring the footage into FCP? Did you log and transfer or transcode to ProRes? What is your timeline set to? ProRes or some other codec? When you are exporting, did you export straight to Compressor from FCP or did you export a Quicktime Movie to encode in Compressor? Also, why are you compressing to ProRes?
