Is there a way to start a video with a fade in and end with a fade out. There is one for audio, but I can't find one for video.

Select the edit point at the beginning or end of the project and press Cmd-T for the default cross dissolve.

All the best,

Tom

And Expand Audio/Video if you just want to do a Video Only Dissolve.

I have tried to do a fade in / fade out with command-T but I am getting a disolve, not a fade in / fade out.

I am using a title from the effects bin. Is it not possible to use a fade in?

Best,

Ruurd.

Do you mean to make a fade from black and a fade to black?

Cmd-T applies the default transition which is a cross dissolve. Use the Fade to Color transition to make a fade out/fade in.

All the best,

Tom

In the video animation editor, try clicking on the small disclosure button of the opacity section on the upper right. Bring your cursor into the window and you will see two icons in the upper right and left. Click on them to drag them down and across to set the number of frames you want the fade up or down to last and you will have your fades set.
