Multiple clips of the same name

This has happened twice to me now over a period of several weeks. I will open X and go to a clip. It works just fine but I also will see upwards of 15 copies of the clip in the browser. They have the same name but just show black when selected and do not play. It is easy enough to select and trash them but why would this occur in the first place. Just another bug?
