Can I determine the exact destination of a Paste in my Project?

When I paste they seem to come in randomly..or as close as their native spot was....is there a way to place the skimmer or play head and select the clip next to where I want the paste to go?

Also FYI....It seems that when I need to close FCPX...often time it locks up and I need to force quit when ising my g-tech Thunderbolt raid
