Powerfull Workflow with FCPX and Netstor Storage possible

Hi guys,

Just bought a Mac Mini with Final Cut X installed.
Then attached a Netstor Thunderbold Storage NA333TB with a
Capture-Card and Raid-Card in it.
It can tell you: Its a great setup regarding speed ! Tomorrow
i will do some tests with 4k footage.

Have you tried putting a video card in the Netstor yet? I would like to know how well that would work running two monitors off it.

Yes I put in a Blackmagic Decklink 4k to get out
a HDMI signal on my preview monitor. That work fine !

I tried some 4k footage now. Performance with my MacMini (Thunderbold_1) and SSD inside is pretty amazing:

Aja System Test says: Read 808MB/sec Write 712MB/sec
Setup as a Raid6 with a Areca Raidcontroller 1882.

Copying from Mac to Netstor is about 400MB/sec (Maximum of my SSD). Im looking forward
to the new Mac Pro (hopefully released this week ????) with Thunderbold2, which interface should be
as twice as fast ! Together with the NA333TB an unbeatable team :-)

Also cool is, that the Netstor NA333TB shuts down, when the Thunderbold Cable is unplugged.

I'm looking to put Minis into our workflow here as well. Currently still running three Mac Pros, one Dell Workstations and two iMacs. All is connected to our 100TB Small Tree SAN. We convert 10gig ethernet to Thunderbolt for the iMacs and it works fine, can push up to 550MB/s to those machines so it would be the same to the Mini.

Have already tested 4k multicam with Premiere Pro using this setup and was able to get 9 streams of 4k ProRes at 1/2 resolution playing. Pretty cool and simple.

I'm thinking to replace all the Mac Pros with the Minis and then purchase one "Big Iron" 16 core PC for the heavy rendering.
