iDVD v DVDSP resolution

Hello All,

Any difference in resolution burning with DVDSP compared to iDVD? I think that they both encode to mpeg-2 and so there should be no difference, unless it is, like After Effects, a 10-bit thing, whatever that means.

Cheers,

Nope - but there will be a quality difference. In DVDSP you can either use the quicktime MPEG2 codec, or compressor - both of which have many settings you can use to improve the quality of the encoding.

Encoding MPEG2 can be a bit of a black art - there's often not a magic number that will produce the best results from all footage , and because you have to compress longer videos more to fit on the disc, there's always a length / quality trade-off.
